England boss Roy Hodgson has revealed Arsenal full-back Carl Jenkinson is under consideration for a call-up despite missing out on this month's upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
The Gunners defender holds dual nationality - England and Finland - and revealed earlier this week that he has been approached by Finland to play for the national team.
Jenkinson has youth caps for both countries, but said he wants to focus on his club career with Arsenal for the time being.
Hodgson revealed he'd looked very closely at Jenkinson, and hinted he could be called up in the future if he continues his fine recent form.
"Jenkinson was a player we thought a lot about but decided we didn't have quite that many places. He is certainly a player we will think about for the future," said Hodgson.
England face San Marino and Poland in a World Cup qualifying double-header later this month. Roy Hodgson's side drew 1-1 at home to Ukraine following a 5-0 victory in Moldova, and they will be looking for maximum points this time around.
Jenkinson's Arsenal teammate Kieran Gibbs did receive an England call-up, having already earned two caps from Wembley friendlies two years ago.
