Chelsea are reportedly turning to Italy in the search for new talent and have singled out young Sampdoria star Nenad Krsticic, according to talkSPORT.
The Serbian Under-21 international has been impressive for the Italians since their promotion to Serie A last season, and has seen his importance to Ciro Ferrara’s first team.
The report claims Roberto di Matteo is looking at more players, such as the Samp midfielder, to continue modernising the squad by signing more young stars, using the revamp mandate given to him by the Stamford Bridge club’s owner, Roman Abramovich.
According to the report, Di Matteo sent a scout to watch the 22-year-old, who joined Sampdoria in 2008 from OFK Belgrade – a club where current Chelsea player Branislav Ivanovic spent three years early in his career.
Di Matteo has already spent big on youngsters this summer, splashing out £32million on Eden Hazard and £25million on Oscar, but this report suggests he hasn’t finished in that regard and could yet add more young talent in January.
