Croatian wonderkid Alen Halilovic showed just why he is being pursued by Manchester United when he scored his first senior goal for Dinamo Zagreb on Sunday.

The 16-year-old displayed glorious poise and composure to lift the ball delicately over the advancing Slaven Belupo goalkeeper to net in only his second senior outing and, in doing so, become the youngest ever scorer in the Croatian league.

Halilovic has been likened to Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi and could continue his rapid rise with a move to Manchester United, although the teenager says he will not get distracted by rumours of a switch to Old Trafford.

The young playmaker's very public ascent will surely mean that Sir Alex Ferguson will have his work cut out should he attempt to sign Halilovic, and the United boss will must have taken notice of the Croatian's maiden strike.

Halilovic's goal almost served as a 'come and get me' plea to Europe's elite clubs and, should he continue in the same vein, a move to a club of greater standing will not be too far away.
