Both Tottenham and Liverpool have been buoyed in their pursuit of Malaga starlet Isco after the club’s sporting director revealed he can leave in January if his buy-out clause is met.

Isco has impressed since joining Malaga in 2011, but could leave the Spanish club as rumours of their financial troubles continue to surface.

The Malaga midfielder has made a brilliant start to the season, and scored twice on his Champions League debut last month as Malaga secured a 3-0 win over Zenit St. Petersburg.

Tottenham and Liverpool have been heavily linked with the talented youngster, while Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini was also reportedly running the rule of the Spaniard during his visit to watch Malaga’s 2-1 defeat against Atletico Madrid on Sunday.

Tottenham’s Tim Sherwood cast an eye over the 20-year-old during Malaga’s Champions League play-off win against Panathinaikos in August ahead of a reported move to bring him to White Hart Lane in January.

Liverpool’s lack of firepower has been well documented this season, and manager Brendan Rodgers’ well known appreciation for Spanish players could see him attempt to take Isco to Anfield during the winter window.

Now both Liverpool and Spurs have been given the green light to strike in January after Malaga sporting director Mario Husillos revealed that if either club reached the release-clause written into Isco’s contract, he can leave the Spanish outfit.

"He is our player and is important for the team. He is not on the market," he told tuttomercatoweb.com.

"We want to keep him here but you all know there is a buyout clause in his contract. So, if a club pay the clause, it does not depend on us anymore."

Despite the rumours of interest from Spurs and Liverpool and the presence of the Manchester City manager on Sunday however, Isco says he is not being distracted by the rumours and wants to help Malaga push on in the Champions League.

"Malaga is on everyone's mouth now because of great displays in the Champions League," he told reporters.

"Besides, I have had two good performances and that's why my name has been heard more than anyone. I just have my mind in Malaga."

Juventus are also said to be admirers of the 20-year-old, while Manchester City’s interest is believed to be far from concrete.
