Arsenal have reportedly joined Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Crystal Palace starlet Wilfried Zaha.

According to a report in the Daily Telegraph, the Gunners sent Arsene Wenger’s former assistant manager, Pat Rice, to run the rule over the talented 19-year-old in the Eagles’ recent 4-3 win over Burnley – where the England Under-21 international scored a brace.

The report claims Arsenal are seriously considering a bid for Zaha in the light of the on-going problems with trying to resolve contract issues with Theo Walcott, whose deal expires next summer.

However, it also claims Liverpool are another interested party from the Premier League and Tottenham have also been linked with a move for one of the most highly-rated youngsters in England this week.

Both Brendan Rodgers at Anfield and Andre Villas-Boas at White Hart Lane have shown a willingness to give young players a chance in Liverpool and Tottenham’s respective first teams.

Arsenal have a track record when it comes to developing youngsters, however, so would provide a big draw for any young star from the Championship.

Pat Rice retired as Arsene Wenger’s number two at the end of last season, but he continues to work for the Emirates Stadium club in a special scout capacity.

The report also claims Palace have accepted that they could not turn down a substantial bid for Zaha, who has now put on match-winning performances in his past two Eagles appearances, scoring a brace on each occasion.

It appears the young man born in Ivory Coast is destined for big things in the Premier League if the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal are chasing him.
