Barca Legend: Neymar must complete Europe move soon

Barcelona legend Rivaldo says Neymar must complete a move to Europe soon – or risk hampering his bourgeoning career.

Neymar has been earmarked for greatness ever since he exploded onto the scene at Santos, and is expected to be the Brazil’s leading light as they go in search of success on home soil at the 2014 World Cup.

Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester United have all been linked with a move for the talented youngster, with the Red Devils reportedly launching an audaciously late bid for him on transfer deadline day, soon after the missed out on taking Lucas Moura to Old Trafford.

However Manchester United’s £38 million raid failed to come off in the dying embers of deadline day, and Neymar is believed to have signed a pre-agreement with Barcelona – something that Santos deny.

However Rivaldo insist that whether he ends up at Barcelona, Real Madrid or even at Old Trafford, Neymar must make the move soon or risk affecting his career.

"We all need some changes every now and then. Neymar must leave Brazil and his familiar surroundings. He should come to Europe in order to gain experience," Rivaldo he told Terra.

"We were already talking about the same matter in relation to players like Ganso and Lucas a year ago. They will be there for the World Cup and need to move as well.

He added: You need experience at the World Cup and the best way to gain experience is to play against the best, which is the case in Europe. These players have to make the move to Europe as soon as possible."

Despite Rivaldo’s warning Neymar has previously insisted he will stay put in Brazil until after the 2014 World Cup
