Turkish teenager Emin Altunay has been given the opportunity to fulfil his dream of becoming a football player after he was inducted into the Liverpool Academy - his prize for winning TV show Soccer Prince.

Altunay beat of thousands of other young Turkish hopefuls to win the competition, which ended in Istanbul in May, and is now on a 12-month development programme with the Reds.

There is no guarantee the 16-year-old midfielder will earn a permanent place with Liverpool, but the prospect of eventually playing alongside the likes of Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez could serve as no greater motivation.

Liverpool captain Gerrard is one of the most famous products of the Reds' esteemed Academy, and Altunay says it is a 'dream come true' to have joined a club with almost incomparable tradition.

"I am so lucky to be given the chance to be developed by such a famous club and I won't let them down," he said after winning the competition, as reported by the official Liverpool website.

The opportunity to become the 'next Steven Gerrard' is one any young player would relish, and Altunay will be given expert guidance to ensure he has every opportunity to realise his Liverpool ambitions.

Liverpool already have a strong association with Turkey given their famous Champions League triumph in Istanbul and numerous sponsorship deals, and the rise of Altunay could ensure it continues for even more years to come.
