Arsenal ace keen on AC Milan move
Arsenal news: Vito Mannone sets sights on moving to AC Milan one day
Arsenal goalkeeper Vito Mannone has revealed he wants to move back to Italy one day - but only after he has become number one at the Emirates Stadium.
The Italy youth international has his sights set on a return to his homeland, with his favourite team AC Milan the ultimate goal.
Mannone has deputised confidently for the injured Wojciech Szczesny and Lukasz Fabianski in the Gunners net, keeping two clean sheets in five Premier League appearances.
And the former-Atalanta keeper now wants to contest for the number one jersey on a permanent basis. Injury to Szczesny has opened the door for Mannone, and the Polish keeper has looked shaky in recent matches, both before his injury, and on his return against Southampton.
Speaking to Corriere della Sera, and quoted on talkSPORT, Mannone said: "It's good at Arsenal, I want to be number one here.
"Then [I want to] return to Italy and play in Serie A, perhaps with AC Milan, my favourite team.
"And finally, with the national team - I am already proven at youth level but with the seniors is another thing."
The 24-year-old has found first-team opportunities hard to come by at Arsenal until this season, spending time on loan at Championship sides Barnsley and Hull City in the past.
Since linking up with the Arsenal first-team in 2006, Mannone has only made 11 league appearances for the Gunners.
