Ghanaian striker Waris Majeed is being linked with a move away from BK Hacken – but his coach wants him to join Arsenal rather than Chelsea.
Blues boss Roberto Di Matteo sent scouts to watch the player at the weekend, according to the Daily Mail, with the 21-year-old hitting a hat-trick against Syrianska. Representatives from Everton and FC Porto were also in attendance.
However, coach Peter Gerhardsson has revealed that he ‘might say yes’ if an offer is made from Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
“As a coach you always want to keep your players but sometimes you have to realise when the player is good enough (to leave). I just hope that in this case, he ends up in the best environment,” Gerhardsson told Aftonbladet.se.
“If he’s going to Arsenal, I might say yes. They do not have any forwards.”
The website goes on to claim that Gerhardsson is a big fan of the Gunners, which would explain why he’d willing to let the 22-goal striker leave for the Emirates Stadium.
Chelsea might have other ideas however, if his performance in in-front of their watching delegates was anything to go by.
The Blues are light in attack following Didier Drogba’s free transfer exit in the summer, with Fernando Torres and Daniel Sturridge currently the only senior attackers on the books at Stamford Bridge.
Radamel Falcao and Oscar Cardozo have both been linked with moves to west London in recent weeks, and the addition of either South American would certainly be well-received by the Chelsea fans.
However, Majeed has come to the attention of the Blues, and the pursuit of his signature could no longer be classed as a surprise.
