Arsenal new boy Lukas Podolski has revealed his disappointment that he is not able to play with Robin van Persie at Emirates Stadium.
Podolski was speaking to German newspaper Koelner Stadt-Unzeiger ahead of international duty when he revealed he would prefer to be playing alongside with the Dutchman.
Arsenal sold Van Persie to Manchester United during the summer in a deal worth £24million and he has picked up under Sir Alex Ferguson where he left off with Arsene Wenger, already notching five times in seven Premier League matches.
Although the Gunners’ signing from FC Koln admitted that Van Persie in the side would probably mean more goals, he insisted that the move to Arsenal has started well and he is enjoying it a lot.
“I would rather have played with Robin van Persie. Maybe we would have added a few more goals to our tally,” he said after watching his former side draw 1-1 with Dynamo Dresden in Bundesliga 2.
“But it’s going well for me at the moment and I hope it will continue. Until now everything is very positive and I'm happy. But the season is still long and we shouldn’t get ahead of ourselves.
“I signed a contract over for 4 years and not a few weeks. There is still a long way to go for me with Arsenal.”
Podolski has started his Arsenal career positively and has already scored four times despite being predominantly deployed on the left of Wenger’s attacking three.
Meanwhile, Manchester United have recovered from a shaky start to the league season and are currently sitting second, thanks to a 3-0 thrashing of Newcastle United at St James' Park last weekend.
