On-loan Chelsea midfielder Yossi Benayoun is keen to extend his loan spell at West Ham, according to talkSPORT.

The Israel international returned to his former club on transfer deadline day, but has yet to start a Premier League game for the Hammers.

Benayoun joined Chelsea in 2010 from Liverpool, but has endured a difficult time at Stamford Bridge. The former-West Ham player spent last season on loan at Arsenal, before rejoining the Upton Park side this year.

And the 32-year-old told the official West Ham club programme that's he's eager to extend his deal with Sam Allardyce's side past January.

"West Ham is one of my favourite clubs and it's great to be here," said Benayoun. "Although it is only a loan, there is an option in January to extend it to the end of the season.

"My ambition is to be at the club for a full season and to make it a good one."

Benayoun has had to make do with a place on the bench as he has struggled to cement a place in the West Ham team. But the recent injury to Ricardo Vaz Te has opened the door for Benayoun and the Israel midfielder could do get an extended run in the team.

Portuguese winger Vaz Te was ruled out for ten weeks with a dislocated shoulder.

Chelsea have a number of players out on loan, including Benayoun. New Stamford Bridge summer signing Kevin De Bruyne is currently in Germany with Werder Bremen, while Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku is with Premier League side West Bromwich Albion.
