Manchester United youngster Ryan Tunicliffe has been arrested for smashing up his new Range Rover, just hours after collecting the keys of his £60,000 car.

According to the Sun, the 19-year-old midfielder, who made his first senior appearance for Manchester United in their 2-1 Capital One Cup win over Newcastle last month, was arrested by Police on suspicion of drink-driving yesterday afternoon after being breathalysed.

The paper reports that witnesses at the scene say he lost control of the expensive 4x4 on an industrial estate in Heywood, Manchester and collided with a nearby parked van, which was then shunted backwards into a 30ft wall.

“He skidded on the wet road. A mate told me he’d only just picked up the keys. He hit a van and pushed it into a wall, making a terrible screeching sound,” the Sun quotes a witness as saying.

“He’s hit it with real force because both vehicles looked like write-offs. Ryan looked really shaken up.”

Pictures from the scene show a heavily damaged black Range Rover, as well as the van involved in the incident.

Police confirmed later that a driver had been arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink-driving.

Tunicliffe hit the news last month after helping his father win a £10,000 bet having come on as a 77th minute substitute for Wayne Rooney in Manchester United’s game against Newcastle at Old Trafford.

Dad Mick placed a £100 wager with a bookmakers that he would play for Manchester United’s first team at 100-1 when his son was 9-years-old.

In other Manchester United news, it has been reported that injured centre-back Nemanja Vidic has given £100,000 to the dad of a deceased former Red Star Belgrade team-mate to help him buy a house.

Vidic is currently out of action for the Red Devils with a knee injury, but could make his return to action next month.
