The France under-21 international is currently on loan at Dutch club Vitesse, but reports in Belgian suggest the youngster could soon join Anderlecht.
The Belgium champions are thought to be interested in Kakuta, who has struggled to break into the Chelsea first-team.
The 21-year-old joined the Blues in 2007, and has spent time on loan at Fulham, Bolton Wanderers, Dijon and Vitesse. But the Frenchman has found it difficult to establish himself at Stamford Bridge, making just six league appearances in the past three years.
Kakuta was rated as one of the brightest young talents at the Chelsea academy - he was voted the academy's Player of the Year, but a horrific ankle injury stunted his progress in 2009.
The under-21 international moved to Vitesse on a season-long loan on transfer deadline day this summer, but is yet to make a league appearance for the Dutch club. And Kakuta could be on his way to Anderlecht, with a move possible next summer.
Anderlecht won the Belgian Pro League last season, and sold Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea last summer.
Kakuta's days at Chelsea appear to be numbered, after Roberto Di Matteo splashed out on Oscar and Eden Hazard in the transfer window - two players who occupy a similar position to Kakuta. Having spent close to £60m on two young attacking playmakers, there seems little room for Kakuta at Chelsea, and the Frenchman may have to look elsewhere for first-team football.
