Tottenham are scouting Feyenoord's Dutch midfielder Jordy Clasie, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 21-year-old has attracted attention from a host of different clubs, including Serie A giants Roma and Juventus, after a series of impressive performances this season.

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is keen to bring him to White Hart Lane, and is prepared to meet the Eredivisie club's £5million valuation, as the Portuguese tactician looks to add to his squad in January.

Clasie, who has won two full international caps, caught the eye during Holland's recent World Cup qualifying victory over Hungary, encouraging Tottenham to maintain their interest in the coming months.

Born and raised in Haarlem, the defensive midfielder started his career at local amateur side EDO, where his undoubted talent was quickly spotted by bigger clubs, joining the Feyenoord youth academy at the tender age of nine.

Although there was little doubt about his immense potential, Clasie's future was the subject of much speculation over the years, due mainly to his small stature, with several youth coaches claiming he would be too physically weak to succeed at the very top level.

The diminutive Dutchman never stopped believing, though, and continued to work hard to improve his game, with performances from players like Barcelona's Xavi and Inter Milan playmaker Wesley Sneijder, strengthening his belief that an impressive physique is not essential in the modern game.

Now, as he continues to excel in his homeland, a Premier League move next year, seemingly beckons.
