Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich are reportedly ready to rival Liverpool in the race for Real Madrid playmaker Mesut Ozil.
The Anfield club were linked with a move for the 24-year-old last month, after he was hauled off at half-time in a La Liga match by manager Jose Mourinho and his future at Sanitago Bernabeu questioned.
Now Spanish newspaper AS are claiming that Munich are ready to offer Ozil a route back to his homeland, despite his recent comments claiming to be happy at Real.
Since taking over at Liverpool, Brendan Rodgers’ side has struggled to find the goal often enough and a lack of creativity in the final third has contributed to this.
The Germany international certainly has the attributes to aid the Merseysiders in this, but they may struggle to match the spending power of the club from Bavaria.
Ozil joined Real Madrid from Werder Bremen in 2010 and was a crucial part of Mourinho’s title-winning side last season, but the Portuguese does not appear to be too impressed with what he has seen so far this term.
The report claims the arrival of Luka Modric from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer has put the Germany international’s place under threat, while former Ballon d’Or winner Kaka is beginning to find his form once again and is becoming increasingly involved in the first team, often at the expense of Ozil.
