Arsenal ace: I copy Andres Iniesta
Arsenal news: Santi Cazorla reveals he tries to copy Barcelona star Andres Iniesta
Arsenal playmaker Santi Cazorla has revealed he is in awe of Barcelona star Andres Iniesta, and strives to copy the diminutive Barca midfielder on the pitch.
Cazorla joined the Gunners from Malaga in the summer, and has quickly established himself as a fans favourite at the Emirates Stadium.
But the former-La Liga midfielder admits his countryman, Andres Iniesta, is the star of the show in Spain, and Cazorla says he strives to emulate the Barcelona superstar on the pitch.
Speaking to Spanish newspaper Marca, Cazorla said: "Iniesta is the standard against which I measure myself. Playing by his side is something else. He's a total footballer in every sense."
Cazorla played alongside Iniesta as Spain won Euro 2012 in Ukraine and Poland this summer. The Arsenal man played a limited role for Vincente Del Bosque's side, but Iniesta was once again Spain's main man as they won their second consecutive European championship.
And the 27-year-old Cazorla admits, having played alongside the Barcelona playmaker, he looks to replicate his play on the field.
"I try to copy the things he does, but it's very difficult," said the Arsenal midfielder. "The problem is that when he does them he makes them look easy, but then you try it and you get all tangled up. Andres is a role model on and off the pitch."
Arsenal currently sit seventh in the Premier League table, and travel to Carrow Road on Saturday evening to face Norwich. Arsene Wenger's side have had to cope without top scorer Robin Van Persie, but the loss of the Dutchman has been at least partially offset by the arrival of Cazorla, and the Gunners have started the season in reasonable form.
