Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to reach another historic milestone on Tuesday night – he will make his 100th appearance for Portugal.

The former Manchester United winger made his international debut a little over nine years ago, since when he has become one of the most feared attackers in world football, breaking goalscoring record after record goalscoring record.

He has won the Champions League, the Premier League, the FA Cup and last led Real Madrid in toppling the dynasty building Barcelona from the summit of the Primera Division.

He is now Portugal captain, their undoubted leader and talisman. At just 27 years old, there is even the possibility of him becoming a double centurion, should he stay fit late into his career.

Northern Ireland are the opponents in the Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifier and they could well be the unlucky victims, as ‘CR7’ is likely desperate to commemorate the occasions with a special performance.
