The agent of Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has sensationally revealed that his client would be prepared to join Premier League rivals Chelsea.

The 29-year-old Ivorian international is currently one of the highest paid players in the country, and despite the fact he's under contract at the Etihad Stadium until 2015, that hasn't stopped his representative from talking up a potential move.

Toure has so far refused to open negotiations over a new deal with Roberto Mancini's side, but sceptics have suggested that this is just a ploy between player and agent to further improve his deal.

"Toure has done all he could at City and needs new motivations," Dimitri Selcuk told Sport. "He would like a new challenge, could sign for many big clubs like Chelsea and Bayern Munich."

Blues boss Roberto Di Matteo has already strengthened his Stamford Bridge squad significantly over the summer, with the acquisition of headline signing Eden Hazard the stand-out capture in west London.

Chelsea have not made any indication as to whether they are interested in signing Toure. But, taking into account Roman Abramovich's new policy of offering rolling one-year contracts to players over the age of 30, a prospective deal would appear unlikely.

Only yesterday, Sky Sports pundit Guillem Balague posted on Twitter: "According to a source close to the player, Yaya is willing to leave City this summer.

"He has offers, I am told, and, considering he is one of the best paid players in the world, that can only come from Anzhi or PSG."
