Lazio have made their move in an effort to keep Chelsea target Senad Lulic at the club.
The 26-year-old Bosnian international was linked with a move to Stamford Bridge at the weekend, with the Daily Mirror claiming Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo is keeping tabs on the player.
It’s news that appears to have filtered to Lazio however, with the Serie ‘A’ outfit set to offer the player an extension on his current contract in the Eternal City, according to newspaper La Repubblica.
Goal.com goes on to claim that the new deal, which would tie the player to the club until 2017, will mean Lulic earns close to double what he’s currently being paid at the Stadio Olimpico.
The website also reports that the ball is now in the former Young Boys star’s court, with Lulic to decide whether he stays with the Biancocelesti or leaves for pastures new. Chelsea will be hoping the decision is to move.
With Ashley Cole’s contract situation causing problems in west London, Chelsea are looking for potential replacements for the England international.
And, whilst Lulic is capable of playing in a more advanced position, the 18-cap international has the versatility to fill the potential void for the Blues.
