No contact from Napoli for Arsenal ace

Serie 'A' side Napoli have reportedly not made contact with Arsenal about Johan Djourou, according to reports in Italy.

The Swiss international has struggled to nail down a first-team place, and no longer seems to feature in Arsene Wenger's plans.

Laurent Koscielny, Thomas Vermaelen and Per Mertesacker have all moved ahead of Djourou, and the 25-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium.

But, according to Italian news site calciomercato.com, Napoli have not spoken to Arsenal regarding a transfer for Djourou.

The Arsenal defender's agent Flavio Ferraria said a January move is unlikely, but it remains up to the Gunners whether or not they want to keep hold of the Switzerland defender.

Arsenal have started the season in excellent form defensively, keeping clean sheets against Sunderland and Liverpool, and the Gunners have conceded only five Premier League goals in seven fixtures so far this season.

Arsene Wenger takes Arsenal to Carrow Road to face Norwich City on Saturday evening looking for three points to take the Gunners back up towards the Premier League top four.

Djourou joined Arsenal as a 15-year-old in 2002, but has made just over 80 Premier League appearances for the Gunners in the meantime.
