Reported Chelsea striker target Klaas Jan-Huntelaar has not been in contact with Lazio over a January move, according to the player’s agent.
Arnoldus Oosterveer was unwilling to completely dismiss the possibility of a return to Italy however, with the door left open for the former AC Milan star to go back to Serie ‘A’.
“Lazio? They are only rumours for now. A return to Italy? Things can change in the transfer market on a daily basis…” he told La Lazio Siamo Noi, as quoted on Football Italia.
With the 29-year-old’s contract at Schalke set to run out in the summer, speculation is rife over the Dutch international’s future, with Premier League giants Chelsea one of the clubs thought to be keen on the player.
And, whilst Oosterveer was eager not to give too much away over his clients future, he did anything but rule out a move away from the Bundesliga.
“Will he renew at Schalke? I can’t provide you with that information right now. I can’t speak about the desire of Huntelaar because there is nothing concrete to discuss at this moment in time.”
Chelsea have been linked with a number of strikers since the close of the summer transfer window, with Fernando Torres and Daniel Sturridge the only senior players currently on the books in the position.
With a reported £5 million price-tag on his head, the prolific marksman would certainly be cheaper than Falcao, although it will be up to the Chelsea boss to decide which player can make the biggest impact in west London.
