Shakhtar Donetsk forward Willian has revealed he is 'always in touch' with Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas – and says he would find it difficult to chose between a move to either Spurs or Chelsea in the January transfer window.

The Brazilian has been regularly linked with a move to the Premier League over the past 12 months, with both Chelsea and Tottenham keen on securing his services.

Spurs reportedly had a bid of around £12 million turned down before the close of the summer transfer window, while some reports suggested the Lillywhites were ready to smash their transfer record in order to land the 24-year-old.

Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas was keen on landing Willian, who has spent five years in Ukraine with Donetsk and will line up against Chelsea in the Champions League tonight, during his brief spell in charge of Stamford Bridge-based outfit, and now wants to take him to White Hart Lane.

The attacking midfielder has also revealed that Chelsea maintained their interest in landing him over the summer as well.

“There were two offers in the summer,’ he said, in an interview with Brazilian media outlet Lancenet.

‘One from Chelsea and one from Tottenham. Choosing between the two clubs would be difficult. I don't know.

‘I mean, Tottenham is a big club and it has a good person in charge. Andre Villas-Boas wanted to bring me to Chelsea and also tried at Tottenham.

Reports this week suggest Spurs have made landing Willian their top priority in the January transfer window, days after their 4-2 defeat against Chelsea at White Hart Lane this weekend.

The former Corinthians forward also revealed that he is in constant communication with Villas-Boas, who he has become ‘friends’ with.

“He always sends me messages," he said. "We are always in touch, and he has become a friend, for sure. And Chelsea is Chelsea. They are a great team, with amazing players and are the champions of Europe.

“I would love to play for either of those clubs. But my mind remains at Shakhtar, and I'll do my best to get the win against Chelsea.

“Everybody knows what my goal is. I've clearly stated that I would like to play in a bigger stage, whether it be England, Spain or Italy. I want to come back to the national team, and being in a bigger spotlight would help me get noticed.’
