Brazilian starlet Bruno Gomes has revealed his ambition to become a living legend at Manchester United.

The 16-year-old striker has recently spent time with the Red Devils, jetting-in for a spell at the Carrington training ground ahead of his proposed move from Desportivo Brasil.

Whilst a number of top clubs have scouted the player, Manchester United find themselves in pole position thanks to their sporting partnership with the South American club, and Gomes is excited at the possibility of winning trophies at Old Trafford.

"My goals are to become top scorer in the league, being the first Brazilian to do so, mainly to be English champion and also to win the Champions League," he told website Old Trafford Brazil.

The teenager also recalled his first meeting with Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, admitting that few words were exchanged between the pair, but that his legendary status was not lost in the verbal exchange.

“It was nice. He is a myth in Manchester, where everybody respects him and to be close to him was great,” added Gomes.

“In fact, he only asked about my position and if I spoke English. Then he talked with the club representative who led me to Manchester.”

The deal between the two is yet to be finalised however, and Gomes can’t wait to show the Manchester United fans what he can do when the transfer is made official.

“It is wonderful. I really wanted to be able to wear the Red kit now! It’s great to see what the club means worldwide, and I’m really happy. I hope to really be a United player soon, officially," he concluded.

If Gomes does complete a move to the Premier League, he'd be joining compatriots Rafael Da Silva and Anderson at United, with Fabio Da Silva currently away on loan.
