Arsenal predicted Champions League line-up against Schalke: Emirates Stadium
Arsene Wenger would have ideally liked the opportunity to rest one or two of his star names for the visit of Schalke on Wednesday but, with a whole raft of injuries, the Arsenal boss is likely to stick with the same side that lost to Norwich.
The Gunners will not have the luxury of choosing from any of Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Kieran Gibbs, Jack Wilshere, Wojciech Szczesny and Bacary Sagna, while Laurent Koscielny only returned to training on Tuesday.
Vito Mannone will continue in goal in the absence of Szczesny, with Karl Jenkison and Andre Santos either side of central defensive pairing of Per Mertesacker and captain Thomas Vermaelen.
The midfield trio of Mikel Arteta, Aaron Ramsey and the increasingly impressive Santi Cazorla is becoming a recognisable one for the Gunners, although Wilshere could soon force his way back into the starting XI as he nears a return.
Francis Coquelin is, perhaps, the only player with the potential to stick the spanner in the works for the Champions League meeting with Schalke, with the Frenchman having started ahead of Ramsey in the victory over Olympiacos.
Olivier Giroud is expected to lead the line for Arsenal, with summer acquisition Lukas Podolski and this season's top goalscorer Gervinho operating on the left and right.
