Manchester City predicted line-up v Ajax

Published Add your comment

Roberto Mancini will be hoping for a big European improvement from his Manchester City side after the disappointing draw against Borussia Dortmund, although Joe Hart can be assured of his place between the sticks.

The England stopper was in inspired form against the Bundesliga champions, keeping his side in with a chance of progression from one of the toughest qualifying groups in Champions League history.

Despite rotating his defence in recent matches, the Italian is expected to go back to an experienced and trusted back four, with Micah Richards, Vincent Kompany, Joleon Lescott and Aleksandar Kolarov all expected to start for the Citizens.

David Silva misses out for Manchester City through injury, and is expected to be joined by Javi Garcia, Maicon and Jack Rodwell on the sidelines.

That leaves Yaya Toure and Gareth Barry to anchor the midfield, with James Milner, Samir Nasri and Sergio Aguero playing in the more advanced roles.

After a match-winning brace at West Bromwich Albion, Mancini will struggle to overlook striker Edin Dzeko once again, leaving Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli on the substitutes bench.

Manchester City predicted line-up v Ajax:

Joe Hart; Micah Richards, Vincent Kompany, Joleon Lescott, Aleksandar Kolarov; Yaya Toure, Gareth Barry; James Milner, Samir Nasri, Sergio Aguero; Edin Dzeko.
