Liverpool are ‘leading the chase’ for highly-rated Belgian midfielder Dennis Praet, according to reports.
Belgian publication DH claimed that Reds boss Brendan Rodgers sent scouts to watch the player in a Pro League clash against Waasland-Beveren on Friday night, and now talkSPORT speculates that the Anfield outfit are in pole position to sign the player.
Praet – an 18-year-old who has earned one cap at U21 level for his country – made his mark on the Anderlecht first team last season with a number of substitute appearances. This term, he’s already started five games for John van den Brom’s side.
European clubs have started to take notice of the latest Belgian star rising through the ranks in his homeland, but it’s Liverpool who could land the player for as little as £4 million.
And, were Praet to sign for the Merseyside giants, he’d be joining a handful of young players already making their mark in the Reds squad.
Raheem Sterling, Suso and Andre Wisdom have all taken their chance since the arrival of Rodgers at Liverpool, and Praet would be another teen star on the books if a move were to take place in January.
