Liverpool are ready to offer a trial to FC Tokyo defender Jang Hyun-Soo, reports the Daily Mail.

The 21-year-old has made only six senior appearances for the J-League side, but will be afforded an opportunity to impress with the Premier League giants.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is constantly on the lookout for emerging young talents to improve his Anfield squad, and is planning to invite the South Korean stopper to Merseyside for a week in December.

Hyun-Soo was set to feature for his country at the London 2012 Olympics in the summer, but picked up an injury which forced him out of the national team squad.

If successful in his trial, the youngster will be available for around £1million - a modest fee in today's overly-inflated transfer market, following in the footsteps of a growing number of Asian imports in England's top-flight.

Andre Wisdom is the latest teenager to make the step up from the Melwood academy into the Liverpool first-team, after being drafted into Rodgers' senior squad in a bid to strengthen in defence. But, it's clear the Northern Irishman still plans to add further reinforcements, with one eye on the long-term future of the football club.
