Chelsea captain John Terry is reportedly considering a shock move to La Liga club Valencia in January.

According to ESPN, FIFA agent Francois Gallardo revealed the former England captain had instigated talks with Los Che after deciding he no longer wanted to stay in the Premier League.

Terry is currently serving a four-match ban after the FA found him guilty of racially abusing QPR’s Anton Ferdinand last year, though he was acquitted of the criminal charge in court this summer.

Now Gallardo’s words suggest Terry has had enough of the criticism he is receiving and has decided the best course of action is to leave Chelsea and start afresh in a new league.

“Valencia are negotiating, and I am involved in person, with the signing in the winter transfer market,” the agent reportedly told Radio Intereconomia.

“The offer is on his table. The player is out of contract in June and will not renew there for several reasons at Chelsea and he wants to come to Spain.”

“Terry has problems, they are insulting him and he is not taking it anymore. He asked to leave, not us.

“It's real. This has been going on for 15 days and two meetings have already took [sic] place. The deal is already on his table - a year and a half plus one. I think he will accept.”

It would be a surprising switch for Terry, given he has been at Chelsea his entire career and Valencia’s well publicised financial issues mean it would be difficult for them to match his current wages – he is one of the top earners at Stamford Bridge.

The 31-year-old recently retired from international football, claiming the FA’s actions in stripping him of the England captaincy, then taking disciplinary proceedings, had made his position in the England squad 'untenable'.
