Andre Villas-Boas has taken the Europa League seriously so far this season, and will almost certainly do the same again when his Tottenham Hotspur side travel to face NK Maribor tonight (Thursday).

French international stopper Hugo Lloris will return between the sticks after missing out to Brad Friedel at the weekend, and will be eager to make his claim for the regular No.1 spot.

Kyle Naughton is likely to replace one of two full-backs, meaning Kyle Walker or Jan Vertonghen will take their place amongst the Spurs substitutes. Michael Dawson is expected to replace William Gallas, whilst Steven Caulker can expect to retain his place in the line-up.

Younss Kaboul and Benoit Assou-Ekotto are still short of fitness, and Gareth Bale is also unavailable after being granted paternity leave by the club.

Moussa Dembele and Scott Parker will also miss out for the White Hart Lane outfit, meaning Jake Livermore and Tom Huddlestone could start in the defensive midfield roles for Villas-Boas.

Experience over youth would mean that Aaron Lennon gets the nod over Andros Townsend on the right of the attacking midfield three, with Gylfi Sigurdsson and Clint Dempsey filling the other two positions.

Jermain Defoe will again lead the line for Spurs, with Emmanuel Adebayor left behind in north London because of a back problem.
