Manchester City defensive coach Angelo Gregucci has confirmed rumours the reigning Premier League champions are interested in signing Stevan Jovetic from Fiorentina.
Sky Sports reports how the 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium for several months, but the Serie A club have constantly insisted the forward is not for sale.
Roberto Mancini is a huge admirer of Jovetic - who has continued to impress for the Viola with a string of scintillating performances this season - and is keen to add him to his Citizens squad when the transfer window reopens in January.
The Montenegro international can play wide on either flank, or as a second striker, and boasts impressive dribbling, close control, as well as flair and technical ability in abundance.
"Jovetic is on our transfer list, we cannot deny it," Gregucci told Violanews.com. "He is a great player, but I don't know if he will wear the Manchester City shirt or not.
"City's interest in him is real, we cannot hide it."
After a solid start to the 2012/13 campaign, City lie third in the Premier League table and remain unbeaten after eight games. They added Javi Garcia, Jack Rodwell, Scott Sinclair and Maicon to their ranks during the summer, but are expected to strengthen further in the New Year as they look to retain the domestic title.
