Former-Manchester United goalscorer and current Molde FK manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said defender Vegard Forren is talented enough to play for his old club.
Solskjaer, who made his name as Manchester United's 'super-sub', is enjoying a burgeoning managerial career, and the ex-United star led his Norwegian side to their first league title last season.
The 24-year-old Forren made his full international debut for Norway earlier this year, and Molde boss Solskjaer, himself tipped to make a return to Manchester United one day, believes his centre-back has the quality to play for the Red Devils.
"Yes, he could play for Manchester United, but I don't have to tell him that," said Solskjaer on Goal.com. "At his best he is a very good footballer.
"He could play for United, but he doesn't need me to tell him that."
Molde currently sit top of the Norwegian league, the Tippeligaen, three points ahead of second place with three matches still to play. And a second league title for Solskjaer could increase speculation linking the former-United striker with a return to the Premier League.
His name was mentioned in relation to the vacant Blackburn managers job, but the 39-year-old has so far refused to be drawn on speculation.
Manchester United admitted earlier last week that plans have been drawn up to be used when Sir Alex Ferguson retires, hinting at a possible shortlist of names to succeed the Old Trafford legend.
Solskjaer would be a huge long-shot for the job, but further down the line, if his impressive managerial CV continues to gain trophies, the former-United star could find himself back on the Old Trafford substitutes bench - only this time not as a player.
