Tottenham assistant manager Steffen Freund has admitted that Emmanuel Adebayor is unhappy at White Hart Lane – but says he will get his chance to show what he can do soon.

Adebayor is yet to start a game for Spurs this season having suffered with a hamstring injury last month, while his truncated pre-season with Manchester City meant he wasn’t considered for Tottenahm’s early season fixtures.

Reports last week claimed that the Togolese forward was ready to jump ship in Janaury despite only completing his permanent switch to Spurs over the summer,  having spent last season on loan in north London.

Then he was the club’s leading scorer in the Premier League with 17 goals, but this time round he has been forced to sit by and watch as Jermain Defoe occupies the lone striker role.

Defoe currently has five goals to his name and will look to keep hold of his starting spot for a tough-looking set of fixtures in November, while Adebayor is a doubt for Wedneday's Capital One Cup game against Norwich because of illness.

Freund concedes that Adebayor is not happy spending so much time on the bench, but believes he will have the chance to show he is one of the ‘best strikers in the Premier League’ soon.

"Adebayor is sick, we will have a look [to see if he is fit for Norwich],” he said.

“If you're not playing and you're injured then of course you are not happy. He's really sick but hopefully he will be back in time. He is one of the best strikers in the Premier League."

"We are happy to have him back here. We need every Tottenham Hotspur player. If Andre wants to rotate or change the position up front, it's good to have every player fit."

Spurs face a tough fixture list in November, and will go up against two of Adebayor’s former clubs – Manchester City and Arsenal – in the space of six days next month.

Their fate in the Europa League will also become much clearer with games against Maribor and Lazio, while they end the month with a London derby against West Ham and a showdown at White Hart Lane against fellow top-four hopefuls Liverpool.
