Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao has handed Chelsea a potential transfer blow, after revealing that he is "very happy" in the Spanish capital and has no intention of leaving the club.

TalkSPORT reports how the 26-year-old Colombian international has been a revelation since leaving River Plate in Argentina, to ply his trade in Europe, scoring 62 goals in two seasons with FC Porto, and 49 more since joining Atletico last year.

His prolific form has alerted a host of top European clubs, with Blues boss Roberto Di Matteo frequently linked with a move for the South American star in January, as Fernando Torres continues to flounder at Stamford Bridge this season.

With interest in Falcao at an all-time high, the La Liga club plan to offer their leading marksman a lucrative new contract, in an attempt to prolong his Spanish stay. And, after speaking to local TV programme Punto Pelota, the in-demand star appears open to the idea.

"I do not leave the club at this moment. I've never thought of [leaving]. I do not have that desire in my head," he explained. "I do not know what will happen tomorrow and it does not depend on me.

"My continuity here next season depends on the needs of the club and certain results. There are many factors to take into account. What I can say is that I am very happy."
