Liverpool dismiss link with ex-Chelsea star Drogba
Liverpool transfer news: No Liverpool news for ex-Chelsea star Drogba
Brendan Rodgers may be in desperate need of reinforcements for his threadbare goalscoring department, but the Liverpool manager is not in the market to sign former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba.
Reports over the weekend had linked Liverpool with a short-term deal for Drogba, who left Chelsea for Shanghai Shenhua during the summer transfer window.
Completing a deal for Drogba would have certainly been quite a coup for Liverpool, with the 34-year-old having scored 157 times for Chelsea during eight years at Stamford Bridge.
However, according to the Liverpool Echo, the Anfield club have rejected suggestions that they are interested in Drogba as Rodgers pursues January recruits.
Liverpool are reportedly already assessing a list of possible targets for the transfer window, with the recruitment of at least one more forward surely a priority for Rodgers.
Luis Suarez is the only senior first-team striker currently available to Liverpool, with summer acquisition Fabio Borini out until Christmas and Dirk Kuyt and Andy Carroll allowed to leave Anfield in differing circumstances.
