Chelsea starlet Lucas Piazon is in-line to make his second start for the Blues in tonight’s Capital One Cup fourth round clash against Manchester United.
The young Brazilian got his first taste of senior action in the same competition last month, impressing for Roberto Di Matteo’s side in a 6-0 thrashing of Npower Championship outfit Wolves.
With the Chelsea boss set to rest a number of his first team regulars, the competition offers players like Piazon, Victor Moses and Marko Marin a rare opportunity to shine, and the 18-year-old striker is eager to take his chance at Stamford Bridge.
"I was just a bit upset after the game (against Wolves) because I didn't score but I think it was good, my first official game for Chelsea, so I was happy anyway,” he told Chelsea TV.
"I was feeling okay and the level was a bit harder, of course. The players are bigger, stronger. This part, I found a bit difficult, but it wasn't a big problem. I think playing a better level will make you think in a better way."
The football spotlight will be on west London tonight, with the fallout over Sunday's league meeting between the Blues and Red Devils continuing.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s side were victorious in a controversial clash that ended 3-2 and saw two Chelsea players get sent off. Allegations of ‘inappropriate language’ from referee Mark Clattenburg have only added to the drama.
John Obi Mikel and Juan Mata are the two Chelsea players at the centre of the storm, but both are expected to miss out despite a strong squad named by Manchester United for the tie.
