Liverpool first-team coach Mike Marsh has revealed Samed Yesil could in line for his second senior start against Swansea at the weekend.

The 18-year-old featured against West Bromwich Albion in the last round, along with a number of the brightest prospects from the Liverpool youth academy.

And Marsh hinted there could be another chance for the Germany youth international this evening, although Jerome Sinclair, who became the Reds youngest ever player against West Brom, is unlikely to be involved.

"I don't think we'll be as young this time around as we were against West Brom," Marsh told Liverpoolfc.com. "Jerome has been away with England and had a busy programme, so I think it'll be a chance for one or two other to play - possibly Samed.

"He's doing really well in training and there's a chance he'll be given a shirt."

Liverpool continue their defence of the trophy at Anfield tonight against Brendan Rodgers' former team.

The Reds won the Capital One Cup, in its previous incarnation as the Carling Cup, last February against Cardiff City at Wembley.

Yesil made the move to Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen for a fee believed to be in the region of £1m in the summer, after just one first-team Bundesliga appearance for the German club.

But the 18-year-old was prolific in the youth academy, scoring more than 50 goals across two seasons. The Dusseldorf-born star is similarly lethal for the German youth teams, scoring 20 goals in 21 games for Germany under-17's and 8 goals in 6 goals for Germany under-19's.
