New Manchester City director of football Txiki Begiristain is set to raid his former club Barcelona for ‘the next Samuel Eto’o’.

According to a report in Goal.com, Pep Guardiola’s former director of football is set to use his intimate knowledge of the famed Camp Nou academy La Masia to poach some of the brightest young talents there for Roberto Mancini’s side – Jean Marie Dongou.

The report claims Begiristrain wants to try and persuade the 17-year-old to switch Catalonia for Manchester and move to the Etihad Stadium once his current contract expires next year.

Dongou hails from Cameroon originally and is a quick, powerful centre forward, which is behind him being labelled ‘the next Samuel Eto’o’.

The report claims Manchester City are planning to offer a lucrative deal for a player that joined La Masia when he was 13, coming through the Samuel Eto’o Foundation.

He is reportedly seen as the only traditional centre-forward in Barcelona’s youth set-up and his contract situation has attracted interest from a number of other top European clubs, not only the Citizens.
