Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has dismissed rumours linking him with a move away from Anfield amid speculation that big-spending Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala were preparing a bid for the centre-back.

The Reds centre-half joined Liverpool from Zenit St Petersburg in 2008, and reports had suggested the Slovakian international could be set for a return to the Russian Premier League.

But Skrtel has moved to quash the speculation, insisting he's happy with life at Liverpool.

"I just extended my Liverpool contract and I'm very satisfied, so let's leave it at that," Skrtel said on Goal.com.

The 27-year-old was named as Liverpool's player of the year last season, and the Slovakian has formed a formidable partnership with Daniel Agger at the heart of the Reds defence.

Liverpool take on Anzhi on Thursday in Moscow in the Europa League, and Brendan Rodgers is expected to make changes from the side that drew 1-1 against Newcastle at the weekend.

The Reds have suffered one of the their worst league starts in the club's history, and with Fabio Borini out injured until January at the latest, Rodgers is struggling for strikers.

Liverpool forward Luis Suarez scored a stunning goal against Newcastle on Sunday, but Liverpool's frailties at home once again cost them dearly. And after they were knocked out of the Capital One Cup by Swansea last week, the Europa League looks to be one of their best bets for silverware this season.
