Manchester United have stepped up their interest in Blackpool's highly-rated midfielder Tom Ince, according to the Daily Mail.

The England U21 international has been a revelation at Bloomfield Road, since joining from Liverpool in the summer of 2011, and has attracted admiring glances from a number of Premier League clubs.

Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson has ordered scouts to keep tabs on Ince, who could follow in the footsteps of his father Paul, by securing a move to Old Trafford.

Swansea tried to sign the 20-year-old in the summer, but he chose to remain with the Seasiders as they bid for promotion from the Championship, under the stewardship of Ian Holloway.

However, in light of the former Blackpool boss' recent departure to Crystal Palace, Ince could be ready to move on when the transfer window reopens in January.

He further enhanced his growing reputation with another goal in last night's 2-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough, taking his season's tally to eight goals in 13 league appearances.
