Tottenham and Manchester United target Leandro Damiao has hinted he would like to move to a European club following bids for his signature last summer, reports Sky Sports.

The 23-year-old Internacional star has attracted interest from a number of top sides, with Inter Milan and Real Madrid also linked with the South American hot-shot.

Damiao was already one of the most sought-after players outside of Europe, before further enhancing his reputation at the London 2012 Olympics, where he netted six goals for silver medallists, Brazil.

Andre Villas-Boas wanted to strengthen his attacking options at White Hart Lane with the addition of Damiao, but Tottenham failed to reach agreement with Internacional, who rejected repeated offers from the Premier League outfit.

Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson is also believed to be an admirer of Damiao's, though he's been unwilling to meet the £40million buy-out clause written into his current contract.

Old Trafford now looks an unlikely destination, following the £24million capture of Robin van Perise in the summer. However, Damiao could still one day arrive in England, after he revealed his friend Oscar - who joined Chelsea in July - is keen to see his compatriot follow the same path.

"Oscar is a big friend and our wives are friends, too," he told UOL. "He is happy there, but of course misses Brazil as a lot of people helped him there.

"Of course all players have the dream of going (to Europe). That will happen one day. He asks me when I'll go there, I say I can't answer that yet.

"I'm happy at Internacional, I have a long contract. All players dream of going to Europe and that will happy one day, but I'm happy here."
