The 20-year-old is said to be a long-term target for Manchester United and had a trial at Old Trafford in 2009.
The Old Trafford-based club reportedly were unable to seal the deal because of problems regarding a work permit, leaving him open to linking up with Heerenveen in the Eredivisie.
However now it appears as though Liverpool have thrown their hat into the ring for the talented youngster and could pip their rivals in the race for his signature.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has been an advocate of giving younger players opportunities in the first team this season, with the likes of Suso, Raheem Sterling and Andre Wisdom all being handed opportunities to shine.
The Serbian international usually operates as a second striker and would certainly bolster Liverpool’s attacking unit, which is looking somewhat thin on the ground thanks to the departure of Andy Carroll and the injury to Fabio Borini.
Youngster Adam Morgan will lead the line for Liverpool in the Europa League tonight against Russian outfit Anxhi Makachkala, with regular starter up front Luis Suarez given a rest.
