Boss admits Chelsea & Arsenal target could leave
Chelsea, Arsenal transfer news: David Moyes admits Marouane Fellaini could leave
Everton manager David Moyes has admitted Chelsea and Arsenal target Marouane Fellaini could end up leaving Goodison Park soon.
Moyes insisted he was determined to keep Fellaini at Everton, but admitted the Toffees would need to satisfy his desire for regular football at the highest level – namely, the Champions League.
The 24-year-old admitted his desire to win trophies and experience European football’s premier competition, saying he would find the possibilities elsewhere if Everton could not provide them.
Moyes has accepted this and admitted he would be powerless to stop Fellaini moving to the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea if his side could not break into the top four.
“If we have top players and cannot give them trophies or European football, I may have to accept what they’re thinking,” he is quoted as saying in The Sun.
Everton’s lack of Champions League football could be one of the biggest pros for both Arsenal and Chelsea to make a move in January, as Fellaini would be eligible to play in the competition.
Both clubs are on the verge of qualifying for the next round, though this is not certain and improvements will be needed if they are to progress past the next round, should they manage to qualify from the group stages.
