Spanish giants track £20m Tottenham and Arsenal target
Arsenal, Tottenham and Real Madrid Transfer News: Spanish giants want Wilfried Zaha
Wilfried Zaha has emerged as a shock transfer target for Real Madrid, according to reports today.
The talented youngster was this week rewarded for his excellent start to the season with Crystal Palace by being handed a call up for England’s game against Sweden in Stockholm tomorrow.
Arsenal and Tottenham have been linked with a move for Zaha, who has had a £20 million price tag slapped on him by Palace co-chairman Steve Parish.
Spurs reportedly sent a representative to run the rule over the 20-year-old, who has played over 100 games for Palace.
The White Hart Lane-based club were said to be willing to lodge a bid of around £8 million for Zaha, well short of the valuation placed on him by the south London club.
Arsenal meanwhile have an excellent track record of snapping up young English talent and have developed the likes of Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and could move to bring Zaha to the Emirates in January.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger confirmed at the club’s AGM last month that the club’s policy will continue to be based around cultivated young English talent, a profile that Zaha certainly fits.
However both Tottenham and Arsenal may find themselves forced out of the running if Madrid make a move.
According to the Sun, Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho sent scouts to watch Zaha in action ahead of a potential January swoop.
Despite attracting interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, Palace remain adamant they will not sell up at least until the summer as they continue their pursuit of promotion to the Premier League.
