Manchester City striker staying put says agent
Manchester City Transfer News: Mario Balotelli won't leave Manchester City in January, says Mino Raiola
Mario Balotelli won’t leave Manchester City this season, according to his agent.
Balotelli’s future at the Etihad Stadium was thrown into doubt over the weekend after he was left out of Manchester City’s squad for their 2-1 win against Tottenham.
The Italian has been constantly linked with a move away from Manchester City after manager Roberto Mancini declared he was ‘finished’ last season following his red card against Arsenal.
However he was handed a lifeline by the Italian manager and according to reports, the Citizens turned down a £40 million bid from Paris Saint-Germain over the summer.
Now though Mancini is said to have grown tired of the striker’s attitude in training which resulted in him being dropped for Sunday’s game, and is reportedly willing to let him return to Italy in January, with both Milan clubs believed to be interested.
According to his agent Mino Raiola however, Balotelli has no plans to leave the Etihad Stadium any time soon, and will see out the remainder of his contract with Manchester City.
"There’s no Italy and no plans to go there," he said. "He’ll work until the end of his contract. He doesn’t want to leave."
Raiola added of Mancini’s decision to drop Balotelli, who linked up with Italy this week ahead of their friendly against France on Thursday: “There’s no player happy with not playing in a game but he accepts it.
“It’s all part of the game. It doesn’t mean he wants to leave Manchester City.”
The Citizens have been linked with a January move for Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao, while Edin Dzeko’s excellent goal scoring form this term could mean Balotelli’s first team chances are limited even further.
The former Inter Milan striker has made just five Premier League starts for Manchester City this term and is yet to score, with his only goal so far this term coming in the Capital One Cup.
Reports claim that Balotelli was spotted partying in Manchester the night before the game against Spurs, and although he had already been told he wouldn’t be part of the squad it is believed that his latest indiscretion has not gone down well with Mancini.
