Manchester United linked with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer protege
Manchester United transfer news: Molde defender Vegard Forren also wanted by Everton & Fulham
The 24-year-old Norwegian international has attracted attention from a host of Premier League clubs, after an impressive calendar year of progression.
Forren helped his club side to the domestic title last season, with his fine form also earning international recognition, and prompting a host of top European scouts to monitor his development.
Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson has been credited with an interest in bringing the centre-back to Old Trafford, and could take advantage of his relationship with United favourite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - the current manager of Molde - if he is serious about securing Forren's signature.
Only last week, the player revealed he was aware of speculation suggesting he could be on his way to England, but insisted that he would not be distracted by rumours surrounding his future.
"If it is true then of course it is interesting, but it is not something I am thinking about," Forren told Romerikes Blad.
"I have been able to cope with the step up in the national team and in Europe and I feel I have played well enough to suggest that I am ready for a better league."
Solskjaer, though, was quick to point out that there have been no approaches for his player, not from Manchester United, nor anyone else.
"There is a lot of interest in him, but no offers have arrived and no club has wanted to negotiate with us."
