Arsenal are being linked with a move for highly-rated Burnley defender Kieran Trippier.
The 22-year-old full-back has been earning rave reviews at Turf Moor, impressing under Eddie Howe and now Sean Dyche as the Clarets make a push for promotion back to the Premier League.
His form is understood to have put the Gunners on alert, with the Lancashire Telegraph claiming Arsene Wenger has set his sights on the player as a potential replacement for Bacary Sagna, who is linked with a move to Inter Milan.
However, the report goes on to claim that a lack of first team opportunities could work against Arsenal, who sent scouts to watch the player on Saturday during a 2-1 defeat to Ipswich.
Trippier left Manchester City for his current Lancashire home in January after a number of loan spells away from the Etihad Stadium, with limited chances under Roberto Mancini cited as one of the reasons for the switch in the report.
And, with Carl Jenkinson being offered a new long-term contract at the Emirates Stadium, the situation could well be the same at Arsenal if he moves to north London.
Trippier isn't the only young defender to be linked with Arsenal however, with The Daily Mail reporting last month that Dutch starlet Riechedly Bazoer is on the club's radar.
