Suarez has been in exceptional form recently and is the Premier League’s joint top scorer so far this term with eight strikes to his name.
Reports last week suggested Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini met with new director of football Txiki Begiristain earlier this month to discuss potential transfer targets in January following a frustrating summer in the market.
The Italian regularly voiced his displeasure at the lack of new arrivals before a late dash saw Maicon, Scott Sinclair and Javi Garcia among others sign on the dotted line at the Etihad Stadium.
Now according to the Daily Express, Manchester City are considering a move for Suarez and could lodge a bid for the in-form Liverpool forward in January – although their chances of landing their man look slim.
The Liverpool striker recently signed a new long-term agreement, and while there were rumours hinting he wanted a move away from Anfield last year, he has repeatedly insisted he is happy on Merseyside.
Liverpool landed Suarez from Ajax during the 2011 January window for around £18 million after Fernando Torres was allowed to leave to join Chelsea.
While the Citizens have an expansive array of talent in attack, so far this season their forwards have failed to fire on all cylinders.
Mario Balotelli is yet to score in the Premier League, Carlos Tevez recently has scored just once in his last 12 games, and while Edin Dzeko is in excellent form Mancini has so far shown a reluctance to use him as a starter. Sergio Aguero, a regular starter, has four league goals to his name so far.
Both Balotelli and Dzeko have been linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium recently, opening up the prospect of City adding to their front line in the winter window.
