Arsenal are being linked with a January move for Dutch international stopper Kenneth Vermeer.

The 26-year-old Ajax keeper, who earned his first full cap for Holland in the 0-0 draw against Germany this month, has been in impressive form domestically for the Godenzonen this season.

It’s alerted Gunners chief Arsene Wenger, according to Dutch reports, with magazine Sport1 claiming the north London outfit are considering a €6 million offer for the player.

Vermeer has been at the Amsterdam Arena for over a decade, joining the club’s academy in 1999 before making his professional debut in the UEFA Cup seven years later.

Loaned out to Willem II after that solitary appearance in 2007, the Ajax stopper has been forced to bide his time with the club, only becoming first choice after Maarten Stekelenburg’s departure to Roma in 2011.

Despite being first choice, the report claims Ajax are open to a potential transfer – should Arsenal wish to make a move – with 23-year-old Jasper Cillessen ready to replace Vermeer.

The Dutchman isn't the only keeper to be linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in recent days either, with Ali Al-Habsi reported to be on the Arsenal radar.

Wojciech Szczesny and Vito Mannone are currently Wenger's two choices between the sticks this season, but the reports suggest the Arsenal boss is contemplating a New Year change in a pivotal position.
