Everton would reportedly consider selling Leighton Baines to Manchester United in the January transfer window, if the Toffees can persuade the Old Trafford club to include Patrice Evra in any potential deal.
Baines has been linked with a move to Manchester United for a number of months and now, it would appear, could join the Red Devils in the New Year, provided any agreement suits Everton.
According to the Daily Express, Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes he can secure an £8 million deal for Baines, but Everton counterpart David Moyes will also request a player in exchange, to compensate for his loss.
The Everton manager reportedly has his sights set on Manchester United defender Evra, with Baines set to replace the France international at left-back were he to move to Old Trafford.
Should Ferguson resist including Evra in a bid for Baines, then Manchester United will have to pay an extra £3 million to secure the services of the England international.
Evra, 31, has made over 300 appearances for Manchester United since joining from Monaco in 2006, but has seen his longevity as Ferguson's undoubted first-choice left-back questioned in recent months.
