Arsenal star keen on Thierry Henry link-up
Arsenal news: Olivier Giroud admits it would be a 'great joy' to play with Thierry Henry at Arsenal
Olivier Giroud revealed it would be a 'great joy' to play alongside Thierry Henry at Arsenal, but admitted he doesn't know for sure if the Gunners legend is returning to the Emirates Stadium.
Henry rejoined Arsenal in January on a two-month temporary deal during the MLS off-season, and the New York Red Bulls striker has been linked with another return to the Arsenal set-up in the New Year.
The 35-year-old scored two goals in seven appearances for the Gunners last season, and Arsene Wenger hinted last week that he would be open to another loan agains this campaign.
But New York Red Bulls sporting director Andy Roxburgh has threatened to block any approach for Henry. Still, Giroud is eager to link-up with the Arsenal legend, and revealed he had recently spoken to his French compatriot.
"[Henry] misses the enthusiasm around the Premier League," Giroud told French newspaper L'Equipe. "But he didn't tell me if he will be back. It would be a great joy to play with him."
After a difficult start to the Arsenal career, Giroud has improved considerably, and has hit four goals in his past five appearances, although the France international failed to find the net against Aston Villa at the weekend.
"I have to improve my statistics again and again," Giroud was quoted as saying on Goal.com. "I have been patient and worked.
"When you come into a new club, there is a time to adapt. Even Thierry Henry experienced it. If I could achieve just half of what he achieved…"
